Our Maths & Information Technology HSC Teacher, Mr Amber, explains that seeing students thrive at Summerland is what he loves most.

We've also included a profile on Mr Amber's career and his teaching approach!

"I love teaching Mathematics because it is definite. It is the study of the rules with which God made the universe. I can feel God's creation in the rules and patterns. I love teaching technology because it is always changing, and I can teach about emerging technologies that excite the students."

Name: Anthony Amber
Title/Subject Area: Mathematics, Information Technology.
Career Background: After University, I wanted more experience as a technician so worked with local businesses for four years repairing technology. I returned to university to do an education diploma, thinking that the qualification could provide many career opportunities. I worked as a casual teacher in local schools the following year before joining the Summerland team.
My Teaching Approach/Style: I combine my faith with my experience to form my Christian Teaching Theology. I love all the students; God has made them and He loves them, so I love them. I teach with the knowledge that we are all created with different blessings and talents. Each student is at different stages on different learning paths - this is very similar to our faith journey. I approach each student right where they are, and help them in their personal educational and faith journey.
I Love: With God as our pillar, we can establish a positive culture of support and love. This enables students to learn in a safe environment, expressing themselves and their faith openly. Seeing students thrive in a positive environment like this and being unashamed of who God has made them is what I love most about Summerland.
For Fun - Fave Quote: “There are 10 types of people in the world. Those who understand binary, and those who don’t.” (Unknown)
