Back in March this year I met a beautiful lady called Carolyn. Like me, her son was in Trindy, the same days as my son but we had actually never really stopped to have a conversation. I knew her to smile at, say “Hello” and “See ya” but that was about it.

In March, Trindy had a “Family Morning.” This was a morning organised by the Trindy teachers, a showcase of what Trindy does in class and it was finished off with a lovely morning tea for the parents, grandparents and family members. At this morning tea I actually had a chance to have a conversation with Carolyn. She had mentioned that school ‘drop off’ and ‘pick up’ can be quite a busy time for parents and how she hadn't really made any friends at Summerland yet because everyone is busy and ‘on a mission’ and ‘you just don’t have time to stop and chat and get to know one another.’

Having 3 small children, I could totally relate to what she was saying and so after exchanging mobile numbers that morning, we have become great friends. Our kids love playing together and I have thoroughly enjoyed my cups of tea with her and our playdates.

It got me thinking, I wonder how many other mums there are at school, who don't really know anyone? Who haven't ever really had the chance to sit down over a cuppa and get to know each other - or even just meet 'that child's’ mum who your own child comes home and says they're friends with?

So this is where ‘Meet a Mum Monday’ comes in! It will be that window of time to come, sit down, have a cuppa and some cake, let your babies/toddlers play and have a conversation with each other.

I'm really excited because at the end of the day, we all long for that sense of community, that we belong and that we have friends to do life with. There’s no better place to start then coming to ‘Meet a Mum Monday.’ Who knows, your new friend might be only a cuppa & conversation away.

We can't wait to meet you!
